Dublin welcomes new deacon

Seamus McEntee ordained on Feast of St Laurence O’Toole

On the Feast of St Laurence O’Toole last week, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin ordained Seamus McEntee (pictured by John McElroy) as a deacon the Pro Cathedral, Dublin. Rev McEntee (47), from the parish of Newcastle, Saggart and Rathcoole, was formerly a member of the Missionaries of Charity Fathers working in Mexico for a number of years. The archbishop also admitted three men, who are training to become permanent deacons, to the office of Reader.

Meanwhile, last week Bishop Michael Smith celebrated the Rite for the Ordination of a Deacon at St Mary’s Church, Drogheda. Rev. Benedict Maria is a member of the Benedictine monks at Silverstream Priory in Stamullen, who first arrived in the Diocese of Meath last year.
