Dublin parish hosts men’s breakfast

A parish run initiative to get more men involved in the Church has been described as “wonderful” by the local parish priest, Fr John Sinnott.

Seventy men met for a full Irish breakfast, cooked by male volunteers in Johnstown Parish Hall, in Johnstown, South Dublin. The outreach initiative took inspiration from Rebuilt, the book about the transformation of a dead Catholic parish in Baltimore, USA, into a vibrant dynamic growing parish.

The plan is to run six Men’s Breakfasts per year, the next one being on November 21. At each breakfast a man from the local community will share for 15 minutes. Local dentist, Hugh Byrne, (who also cooked the white puddings!) was the first to share at the October breakfast on how his faith in Jesus helped him in setting up a dental practice in Dalkey 11 years ago.

The Breakfast Committee was Fr John Sinnott, John Murray, Aidan McMorrow, Glenn Cooke and Paddy Monaghan.
