Drogheda campaigners in Rome visit

Members of a campaign to stop the closure of the Dominican church in Drogheda have said a meeting with the Master of the Order in Rome has given them hope for the future.

In a meeting with Fr Bruno Cadoré, Master of the Order and his personal secretary Fr Vivian Boland, the eight campaigners set out their case for keeping the historic and popular church open. “They were very welcoming and the master said he would write to the provincial encouraging dialogue with us,” said Rita Hanratty.

“It was a very positive trip,” said Fr Jim Dunleavy, “and it gives us confidence going forward.”
