Diocese demands removal of ‘desecration’ video

“The behaviour in the video was a desecration of the church”

The Diocese of Down & Connor has demanded the removal from circulation of a music video filmed in a Belfast church without permission.

In statement the diocese said “no permission was either sought or granted” to film the interior of the parish church of Holy Rosary Parish, and “the behaviour in the video was a desecration of the church and caused most grievous distress to the parish priest and if viewed by the parishioners would cause severe hurt and distress to the wider parish community”.

Sex scene

The footage showed a sex scene between a couple at the church altar and was filmed as part of a video promo for English music dj, DJ Wilkinson.

The diocese said the material “was unlawfully obtained by deception and trespass” and that they have been given an undertaking that material would be “removed from circulation and destroyed”.
