Sadness has been expressed on the death of Bro. James Weston FSC. James P. Weston was born in Castlebar, Co. Mayo in 1925. After attending primary school he entered the De La Salle boarding school in Castletown, Co. Laois and from there he joined the De La Salle Brothers and was given the name Bro. Raphael.
He qualified as a teacher and taught in schools in Co. Louth and Co. Donegal, before being appointed principal of St Patrick’s National School in Kilkenny where he served for six years. After this came teaching posts in Kildare, Dublin and Limerick before he travelled to volunteer London and Johannesburg in South Africa.
His last years were spent with his brothers in Miguel House, Castletown and he passed to his eternal reward on Saturday, December 26 and he was interred in the community cemetery on December 29.
