Corrymeela celebrates 50th anniversary with pilgrimage

The Corrymeela Community was founded in 1965 by the Rev. Dr Ray Davey, assisted by a group of students from Queen’s University, Belfast to work in peace building and reconciliation. Today there are approximately 160 community members and more than 5,000 friends living throughout Ireland.

As part of its 50th anniversary there are six walks planned, one in each of the six counties, to enable outreach throughout Northern Ireland. The walk in Armagh will take place on Thursday, March 5 starting at 12noon at St Patrick’s Cathedral with a greeting and prayer by Archbishop Eamon Martin. Pilgrims will then walk to the churches of other denominations, finishing up at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral with a blessing and farewell by Archbishop Richard Clarke at 3.45pm.
