Confraternity of Clergy to host Knock meeting

Irish Confraternity of Catholic Clergy has extended an invitation to priests to attend its first major gathering

The Irish Confraternity of Catholic Clergy has extended an invitation to priests to attend its first major gathering in Knock this March.

Having announced the Knock House Hotel as the venue for the March 12-13 meeting, Rev. Gerard Deighan, co-founder of the confraternity said the meeting was “designed to provide an opportunity for priests from all across the country to meet in fraternity and to support each other”.

The speakers at the event will be Rev. Jerome Bertram of the Oxford Oratory, who will, on March 12, address the assembly on ‘Brothers Living in Unity: The Priestly Life’, and Bishop Philip Boyce of Raphoe, who will present, March 13, on ‘The Priest as Intercessor: Insights from the Life and Writings of Blessed John Henry Newman’. Rev. Deighan explained that the choice of speakers and topics had been instructed by the Vatican document Ministry and the Life of Priests.

The confraternity has stated that membership is required for those attending the Knock gathering and may be obtained at the meeting, or via www.confraternityofcatholicclergyireland.org and requests that priests intending to join during the meeting email secretary@confraternity.ie ahead of their attendance.

The Irish Confraternity of Catholic Clergy was first established last October and is based on successful bodies already working for the wellbeing of priests in Australia, the United States, and Britain.
