Catholic ‘silent majority’ must speak up

Dear Editor, The so-called ‘silent majority’ will sleepwalk into a “post Catholic” (Ruairi Quinn quote) ‘liberalised’ Ireland unless they wake up and realise that they ARE a majority, and a majority that can make a huge difference to the direction Ireland is heading by letting their voices be heard. There is an election coming up and almost certainly a referendum to repeal the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution – the only protection innocent unborn babies have against the rampant abortion machine.

You will risk being mocked by the shrill voices in the print, broadcast and social media. You may even be abused, if the behaviour of elements of the ‘Yes’ side in the recent same-sex marriage referendum is to go by, particularly on social media. You may even be convinced that you are part of a small ‘reactionary’ minority. Backed by powerful international funding the abortion juggernaut aims to convince that they represent a majority when in fact it is just their shrill voices that are louder.

The universities and their students, once the great bastion of social conscience and free speech, have climbed on board the abortion bandwagon. They are now bastions of censorship where your speech is only free on their terms.

We didn’t endure centuries of oppression to be led into a godless society where human life has no value; where godless values are spouted by so-called ‘cool’ broadcasters; where government ministers use every opportunity to dumb down education; where hospital staff risk losing their jobs if they don’t go against their conscience. Let the deafening silence of the ‘silent majority’ become a deafening roar and reclaim Ireland for our children and grandchildren! Wake up Ireland!

Yours etc.,

Patrick Conneely,

Finglas,
