Next month the Childhood Cancer Foundation (CCF) will run the Light It Up Gold awareness campaign, which will involve three candle lit walks in Dublin, Cork and Galway on September 6 at 6.30pm.
These walks and candlelit vigils serve to recognise and support the bravery of children undergoing cancer treatment, honour the survivors and remember those who have lost their young lives to this disease. Each walk will be led by the mayor of the city and will include music, song and child friendly entertainment.
A large number of buildings will also be lighting up gold for CCF such as Belfast City Hall, The Mansion House in Dublin, Cork Opera House and the Browne Door monument in Galway.
The Childhood Cancer Foundation was launched earlier this year by family members of children affected by different childhood cancers and is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers to support education and research projects.
