Paul KeenanDear Editor, Yes, yes and yes again to President Michael D. Higgins’ selection of Br Kevin Crowley as a true hero, ‘President hails Br Kevin Crowley as his ‘Dublin hero’’ (IC 24/7/14).
Ireland has changed much over the last 30 years, together with the profile and numbers of our homeless. Only two factors can be said to have remained constant in that time: the inattention from official circles to this most vulnerable group and Br Kevin’s steadfast response, even as numbers have climbed depressingly higher since the death of the Celtic Tiger.
It is not for me to argue with a President, but I would insist that Br Kevin is a true Irish hero, such is the broad range of people of all shades and creeds who have benefitted from his kindness over the years.
