A celebration was recently held in Gowran Abbey Nursing Home in Co. Kilkenny to mark the diamond jubilee of Bishop Emeritus of Ossory, Bishop Laurence Forristal writes Jimmy Rhatigan.
It was a happy, convivial occasion, a light and easy celebration of 60 years in religious life with an afternoon of prayer, banter and a few jokes.
Fr Jim Murphy of St Canice’s Parish paid tribute to Bishop Larry saying: “We give thanks for your faithfulness to your calling. You have given us an example of prayerfulness, your reverence for the Blessed Sacrament. You cared for people, you cared for us. When our parents died you kept in touch with a phone call to see how we were doing. Thank you.”
