Belfast hosts ‘Witness to Life’ gathering

Hundreds of people gathered in Belfast city centre last Saturday to ‘Witness to Life’ during an event marking the first anniversary of the establishment of a Marie Stopes clinic there.

Organised by the pro-life group Precious Life, the event drew participants from across Ireland who back Precious Life’s campaign to force the closure of the clinic, which, while unable under Northern Ireland law to offer abortions, is viewed as a threat to the region’s current pro-life stance.

Bernadette Smyth of Precious Life assured the gathering that her group “will never rest until the door is closed on Marie Stopes in Belfast. This is a battle we will win, but we must continue to work as if everything depended on us, and pray as if everything depended on God.”
