Belfast choir on historic trip to Scotland

Schola Cantorum to sing in Edinburgh’s three cathedrals

The Schola Cantorum of St Peter’s Cathedral in Belfast has been invited by Churches Together to sing in the three Christian Cathedrals in Edinburgh as part of the celebration of Christian Unity Week.

Over the weekend of January 23-25 the choir will sing in St Giles’ Anglican Cathedral on Saturday, in St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral for Saturday evening Mass and they will join the choir in St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral for morning Eucharist on Sunday.

Administrator of St Peter’s Cathedral, Fr Hugh Kennedy, said as far as he knows it is the first time a choir has been asked to sing at all three cathedrals in the city. “It is a great honour for the choir and a great sign of how music in worship of God can bring people together from different traditions.”
