Arrests in JPII blood theft

Italian police have arrested two men in connection to the crime

Italian police investigating the theft of a relic of Blessed John Paul II from a country church have arrested two men. The pair, thought to be drug addicts, were detained in the city of L’Aquila and later led police to where they allegedly dumped the stolen reliquary. As The Irish Catholic went to press, police were still seeking the relic, a small cutting of cloth containing the late Pontiff’s blood. A follow-up search of the suspects’ apartment recovered a small crucifix which was stolen along with the reliquary.
