Appeal made for info on Disappeared

Following the discovery in Co. Meath of what are believed to be the remains of Séamus Wright and Kevin McKee who were abducted and killed by the IRA, former NI police ombudsman Nuala O’Loan has appealed for information on the location of the remaining Disappeared.

“The greatest problem is to persuade people to talk because they are afraid of the repercussions, but legislation is there to protect those who come forward with information whether or not they were involved directly,” she said.

“The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims’ Remains has done hugely successful work, she said, “but it is very important that people do not forget the Disappeared and that resources necessary to complete this work continue to be made available by the governments.”
