Agri Aware teaches children about healthy eating

Children across Ireland are getting ready to raise some roots in their school gardens with the launch of the annual Incredible Edibles initiative by Agri Aware, the agri-food educational body, which teaches children where their fruit and vegetables come from and helps them to grow their own.

The programme is now in its sixth year and aims to communicate to primary level students and their parents, the health benefits of eating Irish potatoes, fruit and vegetables.

Almost 900 schools across Ireland have registered for this year’s programme. They will shortly be receiving grow packs, including grow-pots, raised beds, compost, seeds and curriculum-linked interactive tasks for students to complete with their teachers throughout the academic year.
