A recent retreat for priests of the Dioceses of Clonfert and Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora marked a milestone for 20 of the clergymen who attended, each celebrating a priestly jubilee.

This year, five priests in the dioceses are celebrating 60 years of priesthood, four priests are celebrating 55 years, four priests are celebrating 50 years, two priests are celebrating 40 years, one is celebrating 35, one is celebrating 15, two are celebrating 10, and one is celebrating 5.

Congratulating the jubilarians, Bishop Michael Duignan pointed out that in total, these jubilees mark 875 years of priesthood. He thanked them for their “selfless service” and for their dedication to “loving the Lord and walking with God’s holy people”.

“What a magnificent example of faith inspired dedication and priestly service,” Bishop Duignan continued. “I pray God’s blessings on all those marking significant milestones and wish them many years of good health and fruitful ministry into the future.”
