Remembering our fallen

More than 1,000 people gathered at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin on Sunday for the National Day of Commemoration. The ceremony – which remembered Irishmen and Irishwomen who died in past wars and on United Nations service – was presided over by Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin and other faith leaders. President Michael D. Higgins laid a wreath on behalf of the Irish people. Picture shows Fr Robert McCabe CF, Pipe Sgt Anthony Byrne (7 Infantry Battalion), Michael Kelly, Editor of The Irish Catholic and Sgt Maj Mick Dillon (Ceremonial Section Defence Forces HQ).
