Dear Editor, Your front page article of January 8, (“Church same-sex marriage campaign under question”) tells of the letter from the Irish Episcopal Conference on marriage that received little attention from the laity, or even the clergy for that matter.
The reason was simply that not enough copies were circulated to reach more people. Of course, the same applies to the very good documents the bishops wrote concerning the economy and the environment some time previously. In our parish, the document was summarised for anyone who wanted to know about the document.
We are told that the document is available ‘online’, well some of us do not have ‘online’.
Perhaps their lordships and the Church in Ireland would be best served if the documents were printed on cheap newsprint and circulated widely.
Yours etc.,
Michael Auret,
Birr, Co. Offaly.
