Practising gratitude in daily routine

Dear Editor, I recently read your article ‘Practising gratitude’ in the Family &Lifestyle section (IC 10/03/2016). I congratulate the author, Wendy Grace because I think it is an excellent article, and it gave me a lot to think about. I liked the helpful suggestions provided by Wendy for families and indeed individuals to get into the practise of cultivating gratitude in their daily lives. Also, I was struck by Wendy’s recommendation of seeking Louie Schwartszberg’s TEDx talk on gratitude, which I found easily on youtube.com. I watched this video first thing when I got up the next day after reading this article and it really grabbed me.

As an artist, I am constantly inspired by nature and I enjoy using our beautiful world to inspire my painting. Watching this video of Schwartszberg’s amazingly beautiful time lapse photography impressed me greatly.

The beauty he captured with his photography of sunsets and waterfalls cascading downwards and the accompanying powerful words spoken by Benedictine monk, Bro. David Steindl-Rast really moved me, and made me feel a lot more positive and joyful about starting what is a unique day in my life. I saw other videos relating to these important topics, and I look forward to exploring them in more depth soon.

I would strongly recommend to your readers to research methods of making practising gratitude an important part of their daily routine. I am going to incorporate Wendy’s suggestions into my own life, and I know I will become a better person, seeking to serve God by loving people.

Thank you for a positive, uplifting article which will undoubtedly help all who read it.

Yours etc.,

Mary Boucher, Derry City.
