Possible appeal date for Asia Bibi reported

It has been reported that the case of Asia Bibi, the Christian woman imprisoned for blasphemy in Pakistan, will be heard again by the Supreme Court in October. According to Vatican Insider. Joseph Nadeem, who has been providing legal assistance to the woman, confirmed that a request has been made to have the case heard at last, in what may be the woman’s final appeal against her death sentence imposed in 2010 on the word of two Muslim witnesses.

Vatican Insider quoted Mr Nadeem as stating: “After the umpteenth request made by our lawyer Saiful Malook to the Supreme Court for a hearing date to be set, we were unofficially informed that the date could be in the month of October. We trust in the positive outcome of this trial. In cases such as this, the Court could make its ruling after just one or two hearings.”
