Pakistan establishes fund for Peshawar victims

Pakistan – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has announced a special fund to help victims of the September 22 attack on a Christian church in Peshawar. During his first official visit to the region, the prime minister met with minority groups and promised that the 200-million rupee (€1.3 million) fund would be established for the benefit of those bereaved and the more than 140 people injured when suicide bombers targeted worshippers at the All Saints church. He denounced the targeting of minorities in Peshawar and stated his intention to do more to target terrorism in Pakistan. “The rights of minorities will be fully protected and there will be no discrimination against them,” Mr Sharif added.
