Head of Little Sisters of the Poor makes pastoral visit
The Mother General of the Little Sisters of the Poor worldwide, Mother Celine recently visited the order’s Convent and Nursing Home at Saint Joseph’s in Ferrybank, Waterford.
To mark the occasion a special Mass was concelebrated by Bishop Seamus Freeman of Ossory assisted by the priests of the local parish and diocese, and the Dominican Order at St Saviours Waterford. A very large attendance was present at the Mass, including all the sisters of the Community and Mother Joseph and Mother Marie, with visiting sisters of other religious congregations in attendance.
Present also were the residents, nursing and helping staff, volunteers, benefactors and members of the public (including many of the family members of the residents). Music was provided by St Paul’s Church Choir under the direction of Sean Hennessy.
Following Mass, there was a function of welcome in the concert hall, where light refreshments where served and a small gift to mark the occasion of Mother’s visit was given to those attending.
