Dear Editor, How relieved I was when, just ahead of Christmas I read in The Irish Catholic the defence – against the worst intentions of a secular Sunday newspaper – of the work of the Capuchin Day Centre and the entirely unpaid role played by Br Kevin Crowley over many years in providing for the most vulnerable of the capital. The original coverage of the centre’s expenditure left me disgusted that a newspaper would stoop so low as to suggest that clothing gained for people at the pin of their collars should be considered an ‘administration cost’ in the same way as private cars for the fat-cat entrepreneurs who worked to send increased numbers of desperate people to Br Kevin’s door in the first place.Who would provide if not Br Kevin and the Day Centre?
Yours etc.,
Mike Duffy,
