Children’s Global Village will inspire young people’s Faith

Children’s Global Village will inspire young people’s Faith
WMOF 2018: Programme

For all of the children attending WMOF, there will be an opportunity for them to learn about their Faith through a multitude of sensory and engaging activities in the Children’s Global Village.

It will include songs, arts and crafts, dance, games and lots of fun packed faith activities, shows and workshops to entertain the children while helping them reflect on the importance of family. This will also be an opportunity for interacting with children of all ages from around the world.

“It will give children the option to just meet and greet with other children from their own ages from around the world and maybe reflect on the importance of not just their immediate family but our family of families so all of the different workshops are focused on looking back on the theme from each day in the Children’s Global Village which is around the phrases that Pope Francis uses all the time for families which are ‘Please, thank you, and I’m sorry’,” explains Julieann Moran, coordinator of the Children’s Global Village.

“I think it’s just going to be a multitude of sensory engaging activities whether it’s through music whether it’s through touch or whether it’s through engaging with each other through prayer. There’s just going to be a multitude of different ways to engage with each other in the space. We’re really excited about it.”

The Children’s Global Village will be held in a secure area of the RDS Simmonscourt campus.

The Children’s Global Village will be held in a secure area of the RDS Simmonscourt campus. We are committed to keeping children in our care in very safe hands.

Therefore, only pre-approved adult volunteers, speakers, entertainers, workshop leaders and other necessary leaders will have entry to the WMOF Children Global Village for the duration of the morning children’s Programmes.

However, all ages are welcome to visit the Children’s Global Village for the evening drama programme. Under 18s must not be left unaccompanied in the Children’s Global Village during the evening drama programme: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them” (Mt 19:14).

In the same way that Jesus Christ commanded the adults to allow the children to approach him, we encourage all parents with children attending the WMOF’s to encourage your children to attend the daily children’s programme prepared for them in the Children’s Global Village. The overall programme and daily catechesis are based upon the themes of ‘Please, Thank you and Sorry’ as outlined by Pope Francis in Amoris Laetitia. “Three words need to be used. I want to repeat this! Three words: ‘please’, ‘thank you’, ‘sorry’. Three essential words!”

The workshops and catechesis will be child-centred, pointing them towards the sense of wonder and awe that children intuitively have in relation to the world around them and to their relationship with Jesus Christ and their own families.

It will also tap into the innate goodness that is inherent within all children, and the ease with which they form meaningful relationships with others, particularly children from other parts of the world who will also be in attendance in the Children’s Global Village.
