Blessing for Laois retreat centre

Bishop Nulty of Kildare and Leighlin blessed the opening of the Presentation Sisters’ newly refurbished retreat and conference centre in Killenard

The Presentation Sisters of Mount St Anne in Killenard, Co. Laois welcomed Bishop Denis Nulty of Kildare and Leighlin on September 29 to help open the order’s newly refurbished retreat and conference centre.

Accompanied by sisters, friends of the congregation and past Presentation pupils, Bishop Nulty blessed the centre, including the new chapel and its oak altar (representing the worldwide growth of the congregation from the acorn first planted by Nano Nagle in the 18th Century).

Addressing those joining in the day of celebration, Sr Elizabeth Maxwell PBVM, thanked all who had made the refurbishment possible and expressed her joy that Mount St Anne’s, a retreat centre since the 1970s would continue to be “a place apart, a haven for young and older people when the fever of life is frenetic and suffering, pain and loss besets and confuses them on the journey of life”.  www.mountstannes.com
