Tyrone man to tackle Vatican graffiti

A Co. Tyrone man has been enlisted by the Vatican to solve the problem of unsightly graffiti that keeps surfacing on the stone columns of historical buildings.

Paul Bradley, from Greencastle parish, is the sales director for Britain and Ireland of French-based business Guard Industrie. His company has developed the product ProtectGuard which adds an invisible bond to surfaces and acts as a protector repelling ink, paint and other pollutants.

The company has already been involved in intensive testing on the sandstone columns in St Peter’s Square, in one of its largest contracts to date.

“It is very exciting,” Mr Bradley told The Irish News. “You never know, Pope Francis may come over and inspect the work himself,” he joked.

“That would be the best seal of approval ever.”
