Rise of the Roses complete tour of convents

Religious sisters have provided “inspirational” insight into the “power of faith in Ireland” to a group of young women who completed a tour of Irish convents last week.

The Rise of the Roses, a new movement aimed to support and inspire young women as they explore and discern their vocations in life, ended a 10-convent tour of Ireland with Mass in Knock on August 15 attended by about 80 young ‘roses’ and members of the congregations that they visited.

One of the roses, Clare Conlon said that the “inspirational nuns have opened our eyes and highlighted the power of faith in Ireland”, but also that the tour showed “how serious young people in Ireland are about their faith and people can take comfort in the future generations and that the Catholic faith in Ireland is in safe hands”.

The tour, which was launched by Archbishop Eamon Martin in Armagh on St Patrick’s Day, ended at the convent of the Carmelite Sisters in Knock.

“The day in Knock was a great way of meeting up with the nuns and celebrating the tour coming to an end, which was more of a sending then a goodbye,” Clare said. “We are all feeling refreshed, renewed and inspired to carry on what we have taken from the tours into other aspects of our life.”
