Priests and nun kidnapped
The Pope has offered prayers for two priests and a nun kidnapped in Cameroon last weekend. According to Vatican spokesman Fr Ciro Benedettini , upon hearing of the abductions of the trio of religious by armed gunmen, the Pontiff prayed for them and “expressed hope for a solution”.
Those kidnapped, Italian Frs Giampaolo Marta and Gianantonio and Canadian Sister Gilberte Bussiere were taken by armed gunmen in Techere, in the north of Cameroon at dawn on April 5. There are suspicions that those involved may be linked to the Nigerian militant group Boko Haram.
