RTĖ’s Miriam O’Callaghan has said the prayers of an order of contemplative nuns are behind her recent run of exclusive high profile interviews.
Speaking to the Sunday Independent’s Life magazine, the TV and radio presenter said her interview with Leo Varadkar in January, when he publicly came out as gay, was the biggest interview of her life. This was followed in the same month by an interview with Ceann Comhairle, Sean Barrett and the IMF’s Christine Lagarde, and Taoiseach Enda Kenny in February.
“I thank the Siena order of enclosed Dominican nuns in Drogheda for my good luck recently. I’ve had such a good run of interviews since I was up with them,” Miriam said.
She visited the nuns in December to record a Christmas Day special of her radio show, Sunday with Miriam. “As we left, they asked if they could pray for me in perpetuity. And I said, ‘Yes, please; happy days’,” she said..
