Large crowd to attend Dublin’s ‘Way of the Cross’

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will lead Good Friday procession

About a thousand people are expected to attend the annual Way of the Cross in the Phoenix Park led by Dublin’s Archbishop Diarmuid Martin on Good Friday.

Organised by the Catholic movement, Communion and Liberation, this will be the thirteenth Way of the Cross procession to be held in the Phoenix Park, with the event growing from modest numbers to becoming an integral part of the preparation for Easter for many Dubliners.

The procession will begin at the Wellington Monument at 12noon on April 3 and proceed to the Papal Cross. There will be five stages along the route at which there will be Gospel readings and reflections given by Archbishop Martin. Music will be provided by the four-part choir of Communion & Liberation.

Each year tens of thousands of people take part in similar processions organised by the Communion and Liberation movement in all five continents.
