Mrs Chada revealed she had spoken about forgiveness with a local priest.
The mother of two young boys killed by their father last year has spoken of how her Catholic faith has helped her cope with the tragic loss of her sons.
Kathleen Chada, whose husband Sanjeev was last week sentenced to life imprisonment after admitting to what the Central Criminal Courtheard was a crime fuelled by mounting gambling debts, has said she relies on her faith for strength.
“I don’t go to Mass every week, but my faith is very strong and I have been assured that that’s ok,” she said.
In July last year, Mr Chada drove his boys Eoghan (10) and Ruairí (5) to Co Mayowhere he strangled them before writing in a note: “I suppose we will always be together now in some way.”
Speaking about the horrific ordeal on the Late Late show on RTÉ, Mrs Chada admitted she could not forgive her husband for committing such a crime.
“It’s not going to happen,” she said, despite presenter Ryan Tubridy pointing out “there is always talk of forgiveness in the Catholic faith”.
Mrs Chada revealed she had spoken about forgiveness with a local priest. “Forgiveness is a gift is how it was described to me and it is God that forgives. If he forgives this that’s up to him,” she said.
In addition to her “strong faith”, Mrs Chada said she gains strength from her family and local community inBallinkillen, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow.
“I have had an incredibly good and very stable and ground upbringing that’s gotten me to where I am overall in life today. There is an incredible strength in the local community and beyond.
“I don’t feel on my own. I have a very strong sense of the boys. I am very lucky and very blessed to have been their mother,” she said.
