Abortion is a priority issue for just 5% of voters, according to the latest opinion poll.
Asked “what are the main issues or problems you feel the new Government should focus on over the next year or two?”, just one voter in 20 mentioned abortion as a priority issue.
The Behaviour & Attitudes poll, which surveyed a representative sample of 898 voters with a margin of error of 3.3%, did not present respondents with a list of options but gave them “free rein to mention the specific issues they felt the Government should address”, each respondent identifying 3.5 areas of concern on average.
Identification of abortion as a specific priority was consistently low across all age groups, social classes and regions.
Healthcare was the issue most commonly raised by those polled for The Sunday Times snapshot, 68% of whom identifying it as a priority, with 51% raising the issues of homelessness and local authority housing.
