A court case taken by the head of the Marie Stopes Centre in Belfast against a prominent pro-life campaigner has been adjourned until September.
Bernadette Smyth (pictured), Founder and Director of Precious Life, has denied claims of harassment made by Dawn Purvis, Director of Marie Stopes Northern Ireland, between January and February this year.
Belfast Magistrates Court heard last Friday that since Marie Stopes opened a clinic in Belfast in October 2012, members of Precious Life have protested outside the office, and Ms Purvis told the court she was “frightened and fearful” for her safety.
A prayer vigil was held outside the court during the case and Ms Smyth has issued a plea for prayers that “the eyes of everyone involved in this court case will be opened to the truth and that justice will prevail”.
After a legal issue arose, the case was adjourned until September 16.
